St. Margaret’s Centre in Durham City is a registered charity and has been successfully empowering people with mental health issues to regain confidence and learn new skills to improve their lives since 1991.
The Centre offers a wide range of activities provided by dedicated staff, supported by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. Activities include arts and crafts, woodwork, gardening, and training opportunities within our community café. We also offer a wide range of therapeutic support programmes.
Overall governance of the Charity is through a passionate and supportive board of trustees.
Due to pending retirements from the Trustee Board, we are looking for new trustees with a strong passion for supporting mental wellbeing, ideally with some experience of mental health services but this is not essential.
People with financial or marketing experience would be particularly welcome but most important is the motivation to work within a team and the enthusiasm and skills to drive our charity forward, building on our success to date.
We offer new trustees induction and ongoing support. Everyone’s contribution is valued and we are committed to helping new applicants to develop their skills and successfully take up their voluntary role in our team.
There are opportunities to get involved practically by representing the charity at fund raising events, craft fayres etc and to make a positive contribution to our mission and purpose.
To find out more and to arrange an informal visit and chat with our chairperson and some of the Trustee team, please contact our manager by telephoning 0191 3848100 or alternatively email enquiries@stmargaretscentre.co.uk and we will be delighted to tell you more and answer any questions you may have.
