“St Margaret’s Centre is a great place to come and relax, it makes me feel exceptionally good!”
St Margaret’s Centre offers a peaceful allotment area which provides a tranquil oasis of calm in what can be an otherwise stressful world. The St Margaret’s Centre allotment offers a space for our hardworking volunteers and attendees to grow a wide range of fruits and vegetables, some of which are then turned into delicious food in our café. There are also raised beds closer to the centre for people with limited mobility. The garden is a quiet and relaxing place to spend time, and is open between March and October. Some people enjoy the manual work of gardening, while others enjoy chatting over a cup of tea and listening to the birds.
Studies have shown that the mental health benefits of gardening are extensive, helping to reduce stress and combat high blood pressure as well as improving overall physical fitness. Working in a small and friendly group has known mental health benefits, helping to build friendships and reduce social anxiety.
